We partner with local justice systems to strengthen them and ensure people are protected.
OVERVIEW
Community Protection Model
Right now, 50 million people are trapped in slavery. 1 in 4 is a child – that’s the equivalent of every child in England and Wales.
We believe every person deserves freedom and justice. Our team works with authorities and partners in 33 regions across 19 countries to combat slavery, trafficking, violence against women and children, and police abuse of power.
Children, women, and men face the reality of modern slavery, exploitation, and abuse every day, as people in power prey on the vulnerabilities that poverty creates. IJM partners with governments and organisations around the world to build safer communities by focusing on four areas of development that are proven to bring transformation that lasts:
-
STRENGTHENING JUSTICE SYSTEMS
We partner with police, judges and community leaders to make safe communities that last.
-
BRINGING CRIMINALS TO JUSTICE
We advocate for our clients until they can no longer be exploited, trapped in slavery, or abused again.
-
BRINGING PEOPLE TO FREEDOM
We partner with local authorities to bring people to safety and support survivors with trauma-informed care.
-
SCALING DEMAND FOR PROTECTION
We equip champions everywhere to advocate for a safer, more just world for everyone.
FOCUS AREAS
OUR CASEWORK
We work to protect people in poverty from violence and slavery. Here are the forms of injustice we currently address:
-
Trafficking & Slavery
Millions of men, women and children are trapped in modern-day slavery around the world.
-
Violence Against Women and Children
Women and children are particularly vulnerable to violence when no laws are enforced to protect them.
-
Police Abuse of Power
When police are free to misuse their power, people in poverty are the ones who suffer from their violent actions and false accusations.
