Since 1997, courageous partners worldwide have worked with us to bring freedom and safety to children, women and men. From our first operation to rapid global expansion, IJM has protected over 10 million people from slavery and violence.

LATE 1990s

A Vision for Justice

Gary

After leading the UN investigation of the Rwanda genocide, Gary Haugen founded IJM to protect people in poverty from violence – sparking urgent action and global support.

2000s

Building a Global Movement

IJM launched offices across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, partnering with governments to bring people to safety, reform systems, and transform public perception.
